Welcome to Musselbaren in Lysekil
Musselbaren in Lysekil is the third addition to the company. Some part of the staff has been with us before and some are new, which creates the perfect mixture of people and an amazing group! And similarly, we think about you as our guests, having a good balance of new visitors that may have never visited one of our restaurants before and those who have. Anyhow, you are all very welcomed to our home!
As the mussel bar we try to keep a blue thread in what we do and in what we serve, but at the same time there are essential differences in our three restaurants. Partly because they are situated in their own very unique places and partly because we want to show you the different sides that there can be to the same thing, adding whatever we believe to fit in that certain place. Ljungskile, as the original with the old bell tower and our boat Märta. Smögen, all the way out on Kleven where we have established ourselves in a newly built restaurant with a fantastic view of the whole pier of Smögen. And now Lysekil, where we have been able to build our bar on ground of ancient lineage and one of Bohuslän’s biggest entertainment places of the past, Hotel Lysekil. The Mussel bar itself with kitchen and restaurant is built on the terrace so you as our guests can sit close enough to the kitchen and to our personal.
Besides our food we also want to uplift an old summer tradition in form of an after beach and live music most days of the week. We want to invite you to a nice evening with music, food and in good company.
And that is exactly how we want it to be. Our goal has been to create some sort of lounge, kitchen atrium, and you are more than welcome to us. We will present a menu where the Bohuslänian mussels, directly from Scanfjord and which are organic and rope cultivated, are in the centre. However, we will also offer other alternatives, as our mussel burger, our own fish and seafood soup, and a vegetarian dish. We cook our food from scratch and apart from our bohuslänian mussels we try to find other local products to collaborate with based on seasonal variation.
We have also been able to expand beyond this and create various sorts of schnapps and a pilsner in our very own distillery, Klocktornet. We have composed a menu of different cocktails and of taste combinations that we happily can tell you more about.
For example, our gin that is made on seaweed, our akvavit made on trumpet mushroom, our schnapps made on smoked seaweed and our dessert schnapps made on spruce.
